A continuation of an earlier group begun by John Gordon in 1967 (at the time of the foundation of the University) and known as the Macquarie Music Makers (MMM), MUS became affiliated to AICSA in 1988, and was associated with the Sydney IVCF that year. Since John Gordon, MUS has been conducted by Peter Bray, David Kinsela and Simon Wade. The current conductor is Margot McLaughlin.
